When starting my project, I expected it to be a simple research paper and maybe building a mini project. The reality turned out to be completely different than what I expected, instead it was way more in depth. I had faced any problems while writing my research paper, but the greatest one was figuring out how I was going to apply my research to my product as I was not sure how it would really work. My mentor really helped me figure it out and told me about an alternative in applying it to my product. The most surprising thing I learned in my senior project is the amount of energy we don’t maximize. We use so much energy that can be used to make electricity and help the environment as a whole. An important lesson I can take away from doing the Senior Project is that being organized is a major part of achieving anything in life. Having a strict schedule can keep you in check and ensure you don’t procrastinate. Giving myself a schedule and splitting up big projects not only helped me with my project, but will help me with major tasks in the future. I can continue this project by going out of my way in asking gyms if they want to apply this product to their machines. Future MIA students can benefit from this project by figuring out different ways to utilize energy humans use on a daily basis. Islam emphasizes protecting the environment and Allah (SWT) specifically said in the Quran to not spread corruption. We should dedicate the time to improve the environment like recycling objects and refrain from littering and polluting the environment in general. After looking back, I would have probably spread out the workload more, considering how huge the Senior Project is. A word of advice to the upcoming seniors is to not procrastinate and to also stick with a certain schedule as it will help you stay on task and make the Senior Project more doable. Overall, I would give myself a solid 94 as a grade because I believe I put a lot of effort in. I also tried to follow the due dates, but that's why the grade isn’t any higher. I feel like 94 shows that I tried my best, and even though I may have lacked a bit with the deadlines, the work I put in was sufficient.
